# Hosted MCP

Connect over HTTPS with an API key—no local MCP package required.

Use Krutrim Cloud tools from your AI agent without installing or running an MCP server locally.

## Get connected

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Create an API key

In Krutrim Cloud Console, go to **Administration → API keys → Create API Key.** Use a general Krutrim Cloud API key; it is not tied to a specific model.

Need help creating a key? See [API Keys](/basics/key-management-system/model-api-keys.md).

Keep your key private. Add it through the secure input or environment setting in your client guide, never in chat or shared files.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect your client

Follow the Hosted MCP instructions for your client using the endpoint above and your API key:

* [Connect Cursor](/mcp/connect-cursor.md)
* [Connect VS Code](/mcp/connect-vs-code.md)
* [Connect Codex](/mcp/connect-codex.md)
* [Connect Claude Code & Desktop](/mcp/connect-claude-desktop.md) — Claude Code (Hosted MCP)
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Try your first request

Once connected, ask your agent:

```
List my VPCs in In-Bangalore-1.
```

This read-only request lists your VPCs without changing any resources.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Next steps

For supported tools and guidance on reviewing resource changes, see [MCP Overview](/mcp/overview.md).

Connection or tool errors? See [Troubleshooting](/mcp/troubleshooting.md).

Need a client-managed package instead? Use [Local MCP (stdio)](/mcp/local-mcp-stdio.md).
